BROWS:

BEFORE & AFTER CARE

FOLLOWING THESE STEPS IS CRUCIAL FOR YOUR BROWS TO HEAL LOOKING JUST AS GREAT AS THEY DO POST-PROCEDURE! I DO MY PART IN MAKING SURE YOUR BROWS LOOK PERFECT, BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THESE STEPS AS WELL!

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER CARE APPLY TO YOUR TOUCH-UP AS WELL, SO PLAN ACCORDINGLY!

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

  • Stop using any products containing vitamins A, E, and C, BHA, AHA (lactic and glycol acids) or retinal acids on your face for at least 10 days prior to your appointment.

  • Discontinue using brow serums for hair growth for at least 10 days.

  • Discontinue using any harsh chemicals or skin brightening products on the face/brows for at least 10 days.

  • Discontinue taking any blood thinners for at least 5 days.

  • Do not remove any brow hairs for at least a week prior to your appointment, as we will shape and clean them symmetrically at the appointment.

To prevent excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

  • Do not consume alcohol or caffeine - including tea and soda, at least 24 hours prior to your appointment

  • Do not take (or discontinue taking) Ibuprofen (Advil and all other kinds), aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, or any blood thinners, at least 48 hours prior to your appointment

  • Do not have any deep facials or chemical peels at least a week prior to your appointment

  • Do not smoke the day of your appointment, or at least 5 hours prior

  • Do not partake in heavy workouts the day of your appointment

It is recommended to take a full body shower prior to your appointment, as you will be following a dry heal method after the procedure, and will not be able to wet your brows. It is also recommended to have a good meal prior to your appointment.

AFTER CARE:

Congrats, your brows are all done! It is now up to you to ensure your brows look perfect after healing. The healing process is really important for proper ink retention and best results, so make sure to follow them carefully!

Your brows are open cuts and will heal like any wound. This means that they will continue to get darker and form scabs. The scabs may look dark, thick, and can make the shape look different. The scabs will then start to flake off. It can take 10-15 days for your scabs to fully flake off.  As the scabs flake, your brows will look patchy and it will seem like a lot of the ink has disappeared, but it hasn’t! The skin is healing itself and the ink will start to reappear in the next few weeks. So do not panic, just follow these instructions as carefully as you can!

  • Day 1: Dip a Q-tip in the liquid soap solution provided, wipe q-tip against brows, pat dry if needed - do not rinse. Do this once when you get home from your appointment, and every 1-2 hours until you sleep.

  • Day 2 - Day 4: Continue cleansing in the same manner, but every 2-3 hours. Pat dry with paper towel. If liquid solution spills or runs out, you can dip Q-tip through running water.

  • Do not touch the brows to avoid infection. Make sure you wash and dry your hands prior to touching them, as well as use a clean paper towel if patting them dry.

  • Change your pillowcase the day of your appointment and avoid sleeping on your face for the first week.

  • Avoid getting your eyebrows wet (including full body showers, washing your face, swimming, water sports etc.) as well as heavy humidity or sweating (including saunas, facials, hot tubs, steam-rooms, heavy works out, sunbathing/tanning, etc.) until the scabbing has completely fallen off. (If it has been 2 weeks, and you have a few stubborn pieces of scabs refusing to flake off - you can wash and wet the brows as normal - but do not scrub off the scabs!)

  • Keep showers short and cool, rather than long, hot and steamy. Use the brow shield each time you shower - provided in after-care kit. If accidentally wetted, pat the brows dry with clean paper towel, but be extra cautious not to (do not use a used body towel to avoid infection).

  • Do not apply anything on the brows after the procedure. No oils, creams, serums, ointments, vaseline/petroleum jelly. Dry healing only.

  • If the brows feel dry, tight, and/or uncomfortable, apply a paper-thin layer of the ointment provided in your after-care kit to each brow. Do not coat on too much on the scabs. Make sure to wait until your brows are fully scabbed - at least 5 days after the procedure before doing this. Make sure to gently wipe brows clean with a Q-tip and clean water then pat dry prior to applying ointment on the brows. Try to limit applying the ointment to a maximum of 3 times a day.

  • Continue keeping brows dry once scabbing has started

    • Do not scratch, rub, remove, or pick at the scabs. This can lift the ink out of the skin with the scab, and even cause scarring. Scabbing and the falling off of scabs can be annoying, but have patience and continue to follow instructions, and they will be fine!

  • Do not apply makeup on or near your brows until scabbing has completely fallen - be sure to have makeup wipes on hand as you can't wash your face

  • Recommended to wear a hat when out in the sun. Once the scabs have fallen, you can also use sunblock - this is long term as well, to help retain the ink!

  • No chemical peels for at least 4-6 weeks after the scabs have completely fallen off (this means waiting 4-6 weeks after your touch-up before chemical peels)

  • No Botox for at least one month after the procedure.

  • Applying any products containing lactic, AHA (glycol and lactic acids), retinol acids, vitamins A, C, and E directly on or near the brows will fade your pigment significantly and quickly. This is long term, even after the scabs have fallen off.

  • Do not donate blood for at least 6 months following your procedure.

  • Let your doctor know of your microblading for MRIs - as the ink we use may contain some metals

  • If you experience any excessive swelling, blistering, or puss, consult a doctor as the area may be infected.

During the scabbing period, the brows will look very dark and thick, the shape may even look slightly different due to swelling or texture of the strokes. This is okay and will go back to normal once the scabs flake off.

After the scabbing has fully flaked off, your microbladed/ombréd brows may look like they have disappeared. This is normal as well, as the skin is still healing itself and renewing under the scabs. As the skin heals over the next few weeks, the ink will gradually reappear. It can take approximately 40 days for the ink to pick back up. Any areas that have remained faint, any missing patches, etc., will be perfected at the touch-up appointment! Permanent makeup is a multi-step process and will definitely need at least one touch-up (6-12 weeks after initial) to ensure the best results!

Do not panic, the healing process can be a little worrisome but it’s all a part of the process to perfect the brows!
